Staying Free in 2019

Writer's picture: Brandy GainorBrandy Gainor

Here are the verses I am declaring in 2019. I have this framed above my kitchen sink where I will see it pretty much every single day. I have these verses in my journal, in my calendar, in my Bible, and on random sheets of paper all over. I am renewing my mind and staying free in 2019!!!

This framed work is replacing Psalm 91, which I framed and hung up shortly after moving to Mumbai. I declared Psalm 91 over my fears. I have had all kinds of fear since moving to India in 2010, but the one that over the last 7ish years that has grown and overpowered me the most, holding me in bondage was my fear of man—I wanted man’s approval so badly! I’m here to say that the Lord truly delivered me from this in 2018, and I am claiming these verses and fighting to remain in this new found freedom in 2019!

Psalm 34:4-5 says, “I sought the Lord and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.” Our family read a handful of verses the last week in December and voted to claim Isaiah 43:19 for the new year and put it on this cute little board (thanks Amazon India) to remind us GOD is doing a new thing. I have loved looking back on 2018 and seeing what the Lord has done. I cannot even imagine what He is going to do in 2019, but we are so excited to watch!!!

I will be standing in the fear of God and not man! I cannot believe after so many years of fighting against my fear of man I am finally free. I will fight to stay free! I am thankful for a few quotes that continue to help me see the bondage I was in.

Even this very morning, while reading Jennie Allen's book, Restless, my boldness and confidence were kindled as she exhorts is to not shrink back in chapter 20 with an amazing word from Hebrews 10:37-38–even more truth to claim! I will fight to stay free, live my calling, and to not shrink back in 2019. I cannot wait to see what new thing God is doing!!! Alisa Keeton says, “To get a new thing, you have to do a new thing.” I am so thankful I did new things and got new things in 2018! Here’s to 2019!!! Cannot wait to see what will be new!
